Georgia Peaches
Oh my. These peaches are incredible.
On my way back to Florida, I stopped in Fort Vally, Georgia, not too far off of I-75 and drove into the country and got myself some peaches. Lane Southern Orchard does it right. They have 2,700 acres of peaches and a large facility to tour and visit if you need a break while driving through Georgia. They begin shipping peaches in June and I’m not sure when they stop, but I just shipped a bunch to Kentucky. They have found many ways to use peaches. Pickled peaches, peach cider, peach preserves, canned peaches…you get the point. There are also rides around the farm and a tour in the packing part.
But the peaches…they are amazing. I picked up a basket which were fresh off the tree. I let them sit on my kitchen table until last night to soften. I ate six. When you bite into a Lane peach, you should have a paper towel because the juice will run down to your elbow. Sweet.

You forgot to mention the peach ice cream (we like to stop at Lane as well). I have some of those peaches in my kitchen right now too. YUM!
